Boutique Vieux et Nouveau Celebrates Grand Re-Opening, Anniversary by Supporting ABCD:  After Breast Cancer Diagnosis.

Every two minutes, there is a new breast cancer diagnosis.  Every 14 minutes, a life is lost to the disease.  These national statistics, according to www.breastcancerawareness.com, are staggering.  This October, which is the 25th Anniversary of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Boutique Vieux et Nouveau (BVEN), located at 1217 E. Brady St., is joining the brigade against breast cancer.

In celebration of its sixth year in business, BVEN is donating six percent of all proceeds received from fashion purchases made October 17-24 to ABCD:  After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, located at 6767 W. Wells St., in West Allis, Wis.  This week-long celebration of BVEN’s sixth anniversary and its grand re-opening on October 17 also falls during ABCD’s 10th anniversary.

“In recognition of my sixth successful year in business, I feel privileged to donate and help support the efforts of ABCD:  After Breast Cancer Diagnosis,” said Heidi Calaway, owner of BVEN.  “Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women, and I want my customers to know that their fashion purchases between October 17 and 24 will give people diagnosed with breast cancer and their families a personal resource for information and one-to-one support during a challenging time.”

Each day of BVEN’s anniversary week, shoppers will have special opportunities to save on a vast array of unique fashion items.  According to Calaway, she is also holding a contest to win the ABCD Amazing Black Cocktail Dress.  Customers receive one entry to win the dress for every purchase they make between October 1-22.  The winner will be announced Thursday, October 22, at BVEN.  More information about Boutique Vieux et Nouveau is available at www.boutiquemilwaukee.com.

BVEN’s anniversary will also feature a mini-makeover on October 22 for Jill Newman, a breast cancer survivor and treasurer of the ABCD Board of Directors.

“ABCD is pleased to partner with Boutique Vieux et Nouveau, and the funds raised will help us refine and expand our signature one-to-one breast cancer support service throughout Wisconsin,” said Ginny Finn, ABCD’s executive director.  “We are happy to mark our 10th anniversary year with continued partnerships with local businesses that are committed to the community’s health and well-being.”

ABCD’s mission is to provide free, personalized information and one-to-one support to people who are affected by breast cancer – patients, families and friends.  Established in 1999, ABCD was founded by a group of women who realized that having breast cancer is about much more than biopsies, surgery and chemotherapy.  Most of ABCD’s founders are breast cancer survivors themselves who discovered that the most valuable information and support came from others in similar life circumstances with similar experiences with the disease.  For more information about mentoring, the Breast Cancer Helpline or the MORE:  Mentor OutReach and Education program, visit www.abcdmentor.org or call 414-918-9222.
